Rabbi San Francisco Bay Area

Hi,

I am Rabbi Greg Marcus,

I became a Rabbi to serve people in the San Francisco Bay Area and help them feel more connected and excited about their Jewishness.

I am an independent community rabbi, and I officiate at life cycle events and teach Torah classes.

However my priority is to speak with as many in the community as possible to discover how best I can serve you.

You can ask me anything!

I am here to help you.

80% of Jews in the Bay Area are not affiliated with a synagogue.

I am here for you to officiate at weddings, funerals, and baby welcoming, to speak with you in your darkest moments, and to teach Torah either individually or in small groups.

Need a rabbi in the Bay Area? Let’s talk...

I am a different kind of rabbi, who brings experience as a scientist, stay at home father, grief counsellor and marketer to service to the community.

Whether you need someone to officiate at a ceremony, are going through a difficult time, or just want a safe place to ask some questions, I would love to talk with you.

What is Team Chesed?

Team Chesed are people who share a certain sensibility that put an individual’s needs ahead of following the letter of the law.

Playing for Team Chesed means centering human relationships and supporting one another, sometimes without asking anything in return. This is an idea hidden in plain sight within Jewish texts going all the way back to the Torah.

I play for Team Chesed which informs how I show up as a rabbi and a human.

A Judaism that favors acts of kindness/Chesed over ritual observance is a new idea. If this resonates with you, sign up to be informed about events, classes and videos on how to live a Team Chesed life.

Acts of kindness (Chesed) never die. They linger in the memory, giving life to other acts in return.
